Key Decisions & Votes

Acknowledgment and Ratification of Amended Proclamations

The Council acknowledged and ratified the actions taken under the amended and second amended proclamations declaring an emergency within city limits, authorizing actions by the City Manager and Mayor.

  • First Amended Proclamation (March 20th):
    • Designated specific shopping hours for adults 55 and older.
    • Limited restaurants to drive-through, carry-out, and curbside services only.
  • Second Amended Proclamation (March 30th):
    • Implemented a shelter-in-place order and defined essential activities and businesses based on the Governor's emergency order.
    • Allowed parks to remain open for exercise, with the exception of playground equipment and ball courts to prevent virus transmission.

Renewal of 9-1-1 Emergency Number Ordinance

The Council considered and approved a resolution renewing Ordinance Number 1396 NS, the 9-1-1 emergency number ordinance, for the period of 📅 April 6, 2020, to 📅 April 5, 2023. This is a routine "housekeeping item" and does not change the existing 9-1-1 fee rate for landlines.

Shawnee Airport Authority - Land Sale

The Airport Authority considered bids for the purchase of 2.48 acres of land located at 2110 West Independence (the convenience store property). Two bids were received, with one from the existing tenant (Mr. Mohammad Re) exceeding the base bid price at $229,000. The Authority granted permission to proceed with closing the sale.

  • Outcome: ✅ Approved (6-0 vote, 1 abstention)
