  • Solicit bids for a THM analyzer for the water plant lab.
  • Solicit bids for replacement of screw pump number three at the Northside Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Approve an agreement with the Pottawatomie County Development Authority for immediate and emergency personnel for water system maintenance and operation.
• Water Treatment Plant Sludge Removal: The bid for the water plant sludge pond cleaning project was awarded to Terror Renewal from Richardson, Texas, in the amount of 💰 $126,960.16. The budgeted amount for this project was $200,000.
• Enclosed Fishing Dock & Walkways Replacement: The bid for the removal and replacement of the enclosed fishing dock and walkways on Shawnee Twin Lakes Number One was awarded to Recon Services Incorporated for 💰 $177,482. Funding includes an insurance check of $52,689.30, with the remainder from the SMA budget (total budgeted $180,000). The new dock will be slightly larger, handicap accessible, fully covered, and wired for future heaters.
• Executive Sessions: The Commission voted to enter into two executive sessions:
  • To discuss potential claims litigation or other options regarding encroachment into the city's utility service area by other entities.
  • For discussion and possible action on any litigation pending against the City of Shawnee by the Shawnee Area Chamber of Commerce.

Financial Matters

• Midland Water Line Replacement Bids: Six bids were received for the Midland Water Line Replacement project, ranging from $495,871 to $907,870. The project involves replacing deteriorated water lines on Midland (between Kickapoo and Airport Drive) and several side streets. The item was deferred to the next meeting for bid review.
• Water Treatment Plant Sludge Removal: A contract for 💰 $126,960.16 was awarded for this project, which occurs approximately every four years.
• Shawnee Twin Lakes Fishing Dock: The replacement project was awarded for 💰 $177,482, partially covered by insurance.
